{"id":2879,"date":"2014-12-24T21:43:22","date_gmt":"2014-12-24T21:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.michiganmoviemakers.com\/blog\/?p=2879"},"modified":"2015-02-16T15:30:11","modified_gmt":"2015-02-16T15:30:11","slug":"entry-guidelines-winter-2015-m33m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.michiganmoviemakers.com\/blog\/2014\/12\/24\/entry-guidelines-winter-2015-m33m\/","title":{"rendered":"Entry Guidelines &#8211; Winter 2015 Micro Movie Marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>What<\/h1>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>M33M is a biannual festival of <strong>3 minute <\/strong>(or less)<strong> movies <\/strong> made by people in and around Northern Michigan, mostly the Northwest Lower Peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>The acronym M33M (aka Micro Movie Marathon) is derived as follows: Michigan Movie Makers (M3) + 3 Minutes (3M) = M33M.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All genres are welcome<\/strong> \u2013 trailers for longer projects, sneak previews, short form narrative, mini documentaries, spoofs, show reels, experimental, beyond category, commercials, promotional, pure art, animation \u2013 s\u2019all good!<\/p>\n<p>Movies must be no longer than 3 minutes to be considered.<\/p>\n<h1>Who<\/h1>\n<p><strong>All Michigan Movie Makers <\/strong><strong>are encouraged to enter<\/strong>, including entrepreneurs, artists, students and enthusiasts. It might seem counter intuitive to lump together a hodgepodge of expertise and motivations, but a vital community is diverse! We are an\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.holyboners.com\/2011\/12\/12\/ecosystem\/\"><strong>Ecosystem?!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We may have different reasons for making movies, but we all contribute to a vibrant production community. Experience and experimentation are complementary.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyone can and should enter a 3 minute <\/strong>(0r less)<strong> movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>Where<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><strong>State Theatre, <\/strong><\/strong>233 East Front Street, Traverse City, MI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/State+Theatre\/@44.764305,-85.619481,15z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xe5265925275741b\">(map)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Free and Open to the Public<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>When<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Entry Deadline<\/strong> for 3 minute or shorter movies<br \/>\n11:59 pm, Monday February 16, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>2015 Winter Micro Movie Marathon<\/strong><br \/>\n6:30 pm \u2013 8:30 pm on Wednesday February 18, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Why<\/h1>\n<p>The pragmatic and essential outcome will be\u00a0 to <strong>create an immediate and accessible inventory of the community<\/strong>, of our collective movie making talent and resources.<\/p>\n<p>Movie making is (usually) collaborative, so it&#8217;s good to know who is out there and what they are doing. The spectrum of Northern Michigan movie makers include entrepreneurs, artists, students, enthusiasts and innumerable hybrids. If <strong>everyone<\/strong> entered a 3 minute movie into the Micro Movie Marathon, we\u2019d be well on our way to a comprehensive and accessible inventory of our community.\u00a0 This would be a real asset for future projects \u2013 whether you\u2019re an Oscar Winner or YouTube hero.<\/p>\n<p>A less altruistic motivation for entering M33M are the coveted <strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.michiganmoviemakers.com\/blog\/m33m\/\">Major Awards<\/a>. <\/strong>Just imagine the M33M laurels proudly featured on your project\u2019s web pages, or tastefully framed over the wood stove in your rumpus room.<\/p>\n<p>A double special major award for best rejected <a href=\"http:\/\/www.traversecityfilmfest.org\/bumper\/\">TCFF bumper<\/a>, the prestigious Golden ReBoot! Yes, the TCFF was last summer, but there\u2019s still a chance to share your triumph. To be Golden Reboot eligible, bumpers must be from the most recent TCFF.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michiganmoviemakers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/golden-boot1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.michiganmoviemakers.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/golden-boot1.jpg\" alt=\"golden boot\" width=\"367\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>How<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>There are only 3 <strong>requirements <\/strong>to enter\u2026\n<ol>\n<li>Movies up to 3 minutes long including opening titles and closing credits, but no longer.<br \/>\nIf your movie is longer, playback stops at 3 minutes. An abrupt and inelegant method of showcasing your vision, but available for entrants who just can\u2019t or won\u2019t cut a longer movie down. Feel the love.<\/li>\n<li>Movies made by people who were in, from or dreaming about Northern Michigan during production \u2013 including residents and visitors. Our authoritative geographic definition of Northern Michigan includes any place north of <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=Grand+Rapids,+MI&amp;hl=en&amp;ll=42.940339,-85.693359&amp;spn=61.037186,99.580078&amp;sll=44.314844,-85.602364&amp;sspn=15.105788,24.89502&amp;gl=us&amp;t=h&amp;z=4&amp;iwloc=A\">Grand Rapids<\/a> including the UP.<\/li>\n<li>Movies must be received by 11:59pm Monday, February 16, 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Michigan Movie Makers reserves the right to reject any movie we dang well feel like rejecting.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The preferred method of entry is YouTube or Vimeo, but DVDs and thumb drives are ok too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022\u2022\u2022 YouTube<\/strong> \u2022\u2022\u2022<\/p>\n<p>Online entries should be HD (if you\u2019re original movie is HD) and posted as \u201c<strong>unlisted<\/strong>\u201d (YouTube). Once the movie is successfully uploaded, send an email to [info AT michiganmoviemakers DOT com], replacing the AT with \u201c@\u201d, the DOT with \u201c.\u201d and loosing the brackets and spaces.
